HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MEWS!      The Mews celebrated its 30th birthday on July 17 in traditional summer style – hot dogs and burgers under a cover of heat, haze and humidity.  The afternoon stayed dry, however, and a good time was had by all.  Applause and laughter followed the many periodic drawings for door prizes which ranged from gift cards to Safeway, Home Depot, movie tickets and a pedicure at a local spa.  The day’s loudest cheers, however, were saved for Mews newcomer, Lauren Long, whose name was drawn from a giant brandy snifter winning 4 tickets to a Washington Nationals Game (donated by John Cooney).      Those who missed the picnic lost out on a fun afternoon – but stay alert because your Social Committee is already planning the next event!
